This lecture intends to reveal the Orthodox path to obtain Christian education while dwelling within a non-Christian educational milieu. We will examine the example and precepts of the Three Holy Hierarchs, Ss. Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom as they teach us to "plunder the Egytpians" and make all knowledge serviceable to Jesus Christ and His Kingdom.

A native Southern Californian, Father Josiah attended Westminster Seminary California, receiving his M.Div. in 1992 while studying under some of the most influential teachers in the Reformed tradition.  In 1993, he was ordained to the Holy Priesthood of the Orthodox Church and in 2004 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Durham, England.  Father Josiah has served as pastor of St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Riverside, California, since 1998.  He is an Adjunct Professor of Theology at St. Katherine College in San Marcos, California (2010 – present), and was an Adjunct Professor at California Baptist University (2003-2010).  Father Josiah has published numerous articles and two books and is also the founder of Patristic Nectar Publications, a non-profit ministry.  His weekly homilies are available on his podcast, The Arena, produced by Ancient Faith Radio.
