Saturday Evening PLenary (Adult)
"Christ, the Virtue of God"
Christian classical educators believe that wisdom and virtue are the goals of education. How does the revelation that Christ is the Virtue of God guide our teaching and keep us from making the sorts of mistakes that harm or even destroy our children’s souls?
Andrew Kern is a researcher, teacher, and consultant on classical education, with a primary focus on Christian and especially Orthodox education. Having home schooled (with his wife) their five now grown children, and having trained many home school teachers through the CiRCE apprenticeship, Andrew has grown into a well-received home school conference speaker. He has also helped start several private schools over the years and has been consulting with classical educators for over 20 years. His quest is to explore the Orthodox tradition for the wisdom it offers for our teaching in the here and now.
Andrew is founder and president of the CiRCE Institute, co-author of The Lost Tools of Writing, The CiRCE Guide to Reading, and (with Dr. Gene Edward Veith) Classical Education: The Movement Sweeping America. He and his family live in North Carolina.
